Overlooked at YBCA

Join us for an inspiring evening honoring individuals from The Times’s “Overlooked” series — distinguished, pioneering women and people of color whose lives weren’t covered by Times obituaries. The event will feature artists who are honorees of the YBCA 100 — a list of people, organizations and movements recognized by San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. Spoken-word poet FreeQuency, singer Martha Redbone and the a cappella ensemble Vocal Rush will perform pieces inspired by the obits. The Times is partnering with YBCA to bring you bold new works of theater, dance, visual art and more. The event will also feature a panel discussion with Times journalists: “Overlooked” editor Amy Padnani, archival story editor Veronica Chambersand Opinion columnist Jamelle Bouie.
